CARING FOR QUILTS:

Use your quilts with loving care, display them avoiding direct sunlight and the same when you air them outside. You can also fluff in the drier on a cool setting. Wash only when necessary.

WASHING YOUR QUILT:

  • Set your wash machine to the gentle cycle and fill warm water, and add a gentle laundry detergent or Orvus Paste Quilt Soap. (Do not use bleach). Let machine agitate and dissolve the detergent.

  • Add your quilt and wash on gentle cycle and rinse until water is clear.

  • Lay quilt out to dry for best results. If you do use a drier, use a low setting.

WHAT MAKES A QUALITY QUILT?

A true understanding of the expense & labor in a quality quilt can explain the differences in the cost of quilts.

1. Fabric & Threads: Premium quilt shop fabrics, battings & threads.

2. Pieced Quilts: Seams should be sewn straight & line up where necessary. The finished top should lay flat & borders even.

3. Quilting: should be even distributed across the quilt for it to lay flat. A more intense evenly spaced quilt design will prolong the life of your quilt.

4. Quilting Stitches: should be consistent in size throughout the quilt, whether hand or machine quilted.

5. Batting: The batting should be chosen by the intended use of the item.

6. Binding: Bindings should lay smooth and corners should be sharp and square.
